INTRODUCTION OF REGULATORY FRAMEWORK FOR NUMBER PLATE MANUFACTURING AND REGISTRATION MARK EMBOSSING ACTIVITIES

The Regulation seeks to provide a regulatory framework for the manufacture of blank number plates and embossing of registration marks and numbers. While the Act requires a person who manufactures registration marks and numbers to obtain a permit from RTSA, there is no law that sets out the procedure for applying for a permit, the fees payable, the conditions subject to which the permit is issued, and other matters relating to suspension or revocation of permits. In default, the Agency administratively, devised a mechanism for people to apply for the permits and also designed a permit which is issued to applicants. To date however, there is no fee that is payable

As indicatated above, due to the COVID 19 pandemic, consultations will be done through formal letters to all the listed intitutions and organisations. The comments that will be received will be compiled in the draft RIA report which will be subjected to stakeholder comments at the validation
