The Business Regulatory Review Agency (BRRA) officially launched the upgraded e-Registry and Notice-and-Comment web portals on 16th July, 2020.
Speaking during the launch, Minister of Commerce, Trade and Industry Hon. Christopher Yaluma, MP, said the two portals will facilitate easy access to business licensing information as well as enhance transparency in the policy and lawmaking processes.
Further, Mr Yaluma said the government will continue working towards creating an enabling business regulatory environment for the private sector to effectively operate as the engine for economic growth, job creation and poverty alleviation.
Ministry of Commerce, Trade and Industry Permanent Secretary Mushuma Mulenga said the redevelopment of the e-Registry with the updated information on regulatory frameworks will assist the Ministry to move forward with reforms. He further added that the upgraded e-Registry will show the Ministry through BRRA the full picture of licenses and permits and point to areas where there will be need for more interventions in terms of revisions or amendments.
Speaking during the same launch, BRRA Director and Chief Executive Officer Sharon Sichilongo said it became necessary to update and redevelop the e-Registry because some of the information it contained on business licensing and procedures did not have legal effect as they had been repealed and replaced. She further added that through the Ministry of Commerce, Trade and Industry, the Agency received support from the World Bank Group for the redevelopment of the e-Registry as well as the development of the Notice-and-Comment platform for online consultations in policy and law formulation processes.
The upgraded e-Registry will provide easy access to all valid business licenses, permits, certificates, and authorisations in Zambia. The Notice-and-Comment web portal will enable citizens and businesses to participate and provide input in the policy and lawmaking processes.https://www.facebook.com/businessregulatoryreview2019/
